Titanium is now playing a leading role in the body jewelry market because of its four distinguished characters. Titanium is only half the weight of steel and extremely durable that it shows great resistance from the attack of body fluids. Furthermore, titanium doesn't induce you to any of allergy, so even those with metal-sensitivities can wear it. Lastly it can be anodized, so it offers a wide selection of vivid colors on the surface. We use grade 23 surgical titanium Ti 6AL-4V-ELI ( 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium ), which is implant grade, for all titanium body jewelry products.

Anodizing is a fast and simple electrical process that grows very thin transparent oxides on the surface of the reactive metals. It takes high voltage to produce the colors and different voltages give you various ranges of color options. With this production-process, this color is hardly worn away. |

Stainless steels are categorized into four general classes (200, 300, 400 and 500 series) based on composition. The most corrosion-resistant are 300 series steels, so their popularity for medical implants and body jewelry is fierce. Especially, we use 316L surgical stainless steel (18% chromium, 11% nickel, 2¨ö% molybdenum) which has been the most favored metal in the body piercing jewelry industry due to its durable and non-corrosive. It is also designed for prolonged contact with the body and has non- allergy characteristic. |

PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is the most bio-compatible titanium coating on 316L stainless steel. It is a process where titanium is vaporized and electrically deposited onto the body jewelry. This is an implant-grade process in the autoclave. |

This is the whole process of a PVD coating on 316L surgical steel and G23 Surgical Titanium. The main value in PVD technology is the ability to maintain the underlying material¡¯s property and bio-compatible characteristic, even the material is coated in black. |

PTFE (poly-tetra-fluoro-ethylene) also known as Teflon, is an inert bio-material with bio-compatibility characteristics. It has a great reputation as the least allergic material for the body jewelry, so it becomes popular for a person with allergic reaction to conventional metal jewelry. It is totally flexible that it will bend wherever your body tissues move. Also PTFE bars will fit all threaded body jewelries by simply screw on your own jewelries on to a PTFE. It will create a thread on the bar and will hold together strongly. |

Its heat-tolerant-distinction makes it possible to sterilize in autoclaving. Bioplast jewelry can also be threaded by any metal ball closures and cut to any length with a sharp blade. Unlike PTFE, it is available in many colors (transparent, blue, black, silver, glow in the dark and etc) and flexible that it shapes any way you want in body jewelry such as banana bars, circular bars, barbells, labrets and nose studs |

Wood has great versatility in body jewelry. It is lightweight, so largely stretched piercing can be accommodated without discomfort.
Wood comes in a variety of colors and hardness, depending on the source, which can be anything from the reedy bamboo to the rock-solid ebony.
There are some cautions that should be taken regarding body jewelry made of wood. Although most raw woods are relatively safe, there are possibilities of irritation know as ¡°contact dermatitis¡± when it comes to contact with the skin. Wood is also not recommended for long-term wear, cannot be autoclave sterilized, and is not recommended for new or unhealed piercings. Keep wood jewelry away from swimming, bathing or entering a sauna, but it can be safely cleaned with mild liquid anti-bacterial soap and a small amount of water, providing that it is dried immediately. Then it can be lightly treated once a week with jojoba or olive oil to prevent cracking. Tea tree oil can also be used for cleaning and to add sheen. Bone / Horn can be treated essentially the same in body jewelry. Most bone jewelry comes from cow bones and most horn jewelry comes from buffalo. They both are relatively lightweight, come in natural shades of white to black, and can be carved into different shapes. Bone and horn are fragile, so care should be taken not to allow them to be exposed to extreme pressure. They are not autoclavable, but can be carefully washed with mild antibacterial soap and a small amount of water and then treated once a month with jojoba, coconut or olive oil. They are not recommended for new or unhealed piercings, should not be worn long-term or during swimming, bathing or sleeping. |

Rubber and silicone are basically very flexible plastics. They are proven to be bio-compatible, but not highly recommended for piercings, especially unhealed ones. There are two things you need to know before you wear rubber or silicone. One is because of their ability to auto-stretch, they can potentially cause tearing or over-stretching of the hole. Another is that because of the flexibility of the material, it tends to cause a seal against the skin and could allow a build-up of seepage which could eventually lead to severe infection. If you use any of these products, it is really important that you keep the area clean and dry at all times. |
